The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will be opening up tomorrow, November 24 for Christmas tree cutting! The trees are free and for personal use only. You may cut down one tree, with hand tools, per household with no permit required. All of the trees may be taken from anywhere on the refuge except within 150 feet of the road, lake, stream, trail, campground, or picnic area. There is also no tree cutting permitted in the refuge headquarter area along Ski Hill Road. Everyone is requested to trim the stumps as close to the ground as possible. So come on out and chop down a fresh Christmas tree!!! If you have any questions or would like more information please contact the refuge at 262-7021.
